Python Job Details

Genmab is focused on the creation and development of innovative and differentiated antibody products, with the aim of improving the lives of cancer patients.
Your new job at Genmab

Genmab is currently seeking a Data Scientist in Discovery Data Science to be based at the Zeist office in the Netherlands. This is a highly collaborative role in the Discovery Data Science Team working with the New Antibody Product and Research (NAPR) department.
You will work in a multidisciplinary, international team of world-class scientists with state-of-the-art knowledge of the antibody and oncology field. The goal is to work with interdisciplinary product concept teams to bring new, groundbreaking antibody therapeutics to the clinic. We use a highly integrated combination of wet lab, in-vivo, computational and bioinformatics approaches to advance our understanding of cancer, find new cancer drug targets and understand the mechanism of action of our molecules. You will be a regular member of those teams, bringing advanced data analysis to answer questions around completely new and exciting drug development projects.
Additionally, you will build on the state of the art single-cell infrastructure currently being deployed within the Genmab Discovery Data Science team. You will contribute to many innovative approaches focused on understanding cancer at the single cell level, such as integrating functional single-cell and other functional data, such as bulk RNA-seq, CRISPR screening and proteomics data. Your work will be used to drive forward new targets and bring new drugs forward on their way to the clinic.
Genmab places a high value on new, transformational data science approaches to enhance our drug discovery and development efforts. As a Data Scientist in the Discovery Data Science team, you will get the unique opportunity to make a large impact on the development of ground-breaking new medicines to serve cancer patients with high unmet medical needs. In addition, as a fully integrated biotech company, Genmab will give you the chance to experience drug development from discovery to translation into the clinic.

Responsibilities

  • You will work in a partnership between data science and product concept research teams focusing on bringing promising new therapeutic candidates forward.
  • You work independently, formulating next steps and driving project teams forward.
  • You are well-aware of the biological context of projects and can provide biological interpretations of your results to teams with diverse scientific backgrounds.
  • You are personally responsible for and can lead relevant data-heavy projects, both in house as well as outsourced to service providers.
  • You demonstrate deep knowledge of your projects and collaborations, becoming the main point of contact for all projects that occur within your purview
  • You are responsible for the visualization of complex data, reducing complex problems into intuitive explanations that can be presented to a diverse scientific audience.
  • You play a pivotal role in the development of and expansion of (standardized) analysis workflows to support your work and the organization in general.
  • You act to translate that into an array of technology evaluation pilots, external partnerships, and work-streams to advance translational research and help us get molecules from the research stage into the clinic.
  • You report scientific results in patents, publications, and regulatory documents.

What we ask

  • You hold a PhD degree in the computational biology/immunology field or biology, bioinformatics. MSc-level degree holders with 5+ years of experience in a similar role are encouraged to apply.
  • You have a strong biology background, preferably in immunology, oncology and/or (antibody) drug development.
  • You have programming skills (R, git) and are experienced in using cloud services for storage and computing. R shiny and python skills are a plus.
  • Experience with state-of-the art genomics technologies such as single cell RNA-sequencing, CRISPR functional screens, bulk RNA sequencing, proteomics and associated algorithms and programs is a strong plus.
  • You have experience with applied statistics. Modeling and machine learning is a plus.
  • You are enthusiastic, creative, goal orientated, pro-active and out-of-the-box thinking with a strong ability to work independently.
  • You are experienced in working in a multidisciplinary team. Can liaise between the worlds of computational biology and basic biology. Provide biological interpretations of your results to teams with diverse scientific backgrounds
  • 2 years or more experience in a similar position within industry or as a postdoctoral researcher is preferred. Recent PhD graduates are still encouraged to apply.
